Sussex Bonfire Season

Bonfire celebrations in Sussex bring out the ooo's and ahhh's in all of us!

East Sussex must be one of the only counties in the UK that really goes to town when it comes to celebrating & remembering the overthrow of the 1605 Gun powder plot to blow up 'The Houses of Parliament'.

We are lucky enough to have bonfire celebrations from the beginning of September, right through to the end of November & whether it's a smaller village celebration or one of the larger Bonfire Society gatherings, there really is something for all the family.

This year, sees Hastings celebrating their 25th anniversary on the 19th October, with one of their biggest celebrations yet and they are already known for their beach bonfire and amazing firework finale, I can't wait to see what they produce this year.

Then we move onto medieval Battle with the torchlit procession and the drums echoing in the shadow of Battle Abbey on the 2nd November.

And the finale for me, is always the Rye procession on the 9th November. There really is something quite magical about the smoke in the air, from the burning torches, the costumes, the fire breathing dragon, the burning boat and then the spectacular firework display and bonfire viewed from 'The Salts'.

So if you want to experience a true Sussex tradition and make a long weekend of it, check out our availability on the website and come stay with us and enjoy something a little different.
