5 East Street is a beautifully renovated family and dog-friendly holiday cottage in the heart of Rye's citadel sleeping four.

A Grade II listed c19th period cottage situated in the heart of the Conservation Area of the ancient town and Cinque Port of Rye.

The self-catering holiday cottage has been lovingly restored with original exposed floorboards and painted with warm muted tones, creating a calming relaxed atmosphere. Wood burners in the lounge and dining room mean you can enjoy a cosy fire while resting in front of the Smart TV or over a leisurely family dinner, especially enjoyable in the cooler months. The property has a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and all the standard mod cons. Off the kitchen is a small shower room with a separate shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.

The property can sleep up to four guests in two bedrooms with an opulent ensuite bathroom. The front bedroom is configured as a super king but can be made up as a twin room if requested before check-in. The rear bedroom with an ensuite bathroom is a double. The ensuite bathroom with roll-a-top bath, hand basin and WC is the perfect holiday pamper spot after a hard day exploring the area.

There is a courtyard garden with outdoor seating and a table, a lovely spot for morning coffee or an evening tipple.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rye. The house was perfect for the 4 of us, myself, my wife and our 2 grown up daughters. Also our young cocker spaniel Tilly. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, the house was situated in a quiet street in the centre of Rye, close to all the amenities. Jacqui recommended some good restaurants which we tried. Plenty to see and do in the town and the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage, very clean, and beautifully furnished with character and charm. Light and airy. Cosy and welcoming. Great location. Nice little outside private/secure space. Dog friendly. There are lots of good shops and great places to eat and drink in Rye. The stairs are very steep and narrow, as described, so care is needed, e.g. would not be managed by my older-aged mother, even though she's not registered disabled. One thing to be aware of and that's out of the control of anyone is the seagulls. I'm not sure if it's the time of year, but the seagulls on the roof of the cottage (and surrounding properties) were incredibly noisy all night, which significantly and sadly disturbed our sleep. Ear-plugs will be essential next time!

No decorative clutter. That makes every surface easy to use and its easy to collect ALL your things at the end of stay! The kitchen was well appointed. The lighting was good. Negative: No coat hooks. Somehow rental properties never think to have them! A couple of minor niggles: No freezer compartment for ice. **Response** Thanks for your feedback. We will look into adding more coat hooks and consider replacing the fridge to accommodate an freezer compartment.

A charming, beautifully decorated haven in the heart of Rye. We loved the cosy feel of the house and the fact that there was a little garden at the back. We would love to come back!

Superb central location, perfectly furnished and equipped with lots of character, great little wood burners and a lovely garden for enjoying outdoors when the weather behaves.
